DSS rentals (DWP)

DSS rentals now governed by the DWP (Department for Work and Pensions) are a special rental type. In many situations a tenant may only be using housing benefit for a short period of term whilst finding new work. Others may need help permanently due to an inability to work or sickness.

Whatever the situation you need to be aware that many insurers need to know about you either renting to a DSS tenant or if their situation changes mid tenancy. All tenants are risk assessed and given a generic weighting as a category. Some insurers do not cover DSS rentals whilst others may need an additional premium.
