Renovations to let properties
Renovations to your let property have to be carried out during the course of the property ownership. Small renovations can be carried out whilst tenants are present, as long as they are agreeable. However extensive renovations can take time and are best suited to be carried out at the end of a tenancy. This is not always possible but whatever the case you need to contact your let property or landlord insurance provider.
Some insurers insist on a change of let property insurance whilst the renovations take place and the property is vacant of tenants. This is because the property is classed in a different risk category when:
- In a vacant property no one is present in the property at all time
- The renovations themselves may potentially cause risk to the property not covered by your usual landlords insurance agreement.
