Tax breaks offered to landlords who go green
Let property landlords who fit energy saving devices can benefit from tax breaks and the likelihood of appealing to a larger range of tenants.
Landlords can claim for the cost of fitting such things as draught proofing, loft insulation, floor insulation, cavity wall insulation and hot water system insulation.
Advice from the National Landlords Association urges property landlords to take up the opportunity to obtain up to £1,500 per property to cover the cost of fitting the devices.
As of 1st October this year Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) will become mandatory for rental properties in England and Wales, showing potential tenants how energy efficient rental properties are and potentially giving lower energy bills.
