Some Landlords not checking tenants at all
A new survey by Paragon Mortgages, the buy to let specialist, has found that a third of residential landlords have never checked the background of the tenants who rent their properties.
Failure to carry out simple checks can lead to problems for the landlord later when the tenant defaults on paying their rent and eviction is needed to remove them.
Also some insurance companies that provide landlord insurance for their let properties have clauses built into their terms that the tenants should have references, especially if the landlord wants to include rent guarantee cover to the policy.
