Papalexis gives Blofeld a run for his money

Thanos Papalexis sounded like a man straight from the pages of an Ian Fleming novel at least to his string of lovers; a James Bond like character handsome, charming and wealthy, the son of Greek shipping magnate. Yet the reality is similar to the scheming villain of Bond's foe Ernst Stavro Blofeld.

Papalexis has turned out to be the most unscrupulous landlord London has seen for decades as UK police have recently shed light on his underhand dealings with difficult tenants, despite the wanton lies he told his former mistresses about being a CIA agent.

In a bid to stop the failure of his property empire in London caused by a massively over-budget development project, Papalexis attempted to boost ailing funds. By buying a warehouse in Kensal Rise, North-west London he hoped to sell it on for a healthy profit.

Unfortunately for Papalexis, the warehouse contained a tenant a well-known recluse Charalambos Christodoulides who refused to move out of the warehouse, jeopardising Paplexis's plans for refurbishment. In a dramatic and conniving plot, Papalexis had the 55-year-old troublemaker tortured and ultimately murdered, bearing witness to his victims suffering.

In an ironic twist of fate, the £2 million Kensal Rise property deal also fell through and his company entered administration; Papalexis set off to Florida with his newly wedded wife, where he enjoyed the company of the likes of the Clintons even hosting a campaign dinner for Hilary Clinton.

After police arrested Blofeld-like Papalexis, the court heard how he had invented other sham-like schemes in Florida and although his answers were articulate, like all good villains he remained deceitful and smarmy until the end.
