Let Property is a fire hazard
A home that was let to seven tenants as part of multi tenure occupancy was found to be a fire risk, leading to the prosecution of two management companies.
The three storey property in Camden was let to seven unrelated tenants by two different management companies; both of which had not applied for the necessary houses in multiple occupation (HMO) Licence. This was one of the fines that the companies were prosecuted for, as well as having no fire alarms or fire doors. Without the necessary fire protections, if a fire had broken out it would have spread very quickly across the home without the tenants being made aware.
Camden council were able to prosecute both the companies, with both facing fines of £13,800. Mr Begun, the director of both management companies was fined an additional £4,800 for his failures to ensure that the companies were complying with regulations.
