Leeds less than above board let property
As let property owners you have to be very careful about selecting your tenets. The very nature of the industry carries a possibility of risk as hellish tales of nightmare tenants are fed through the media. Stories of rebellious students destroying properties, in-the-red professionals who struggle to pay rent and now the criminal usage of properties are enough to turn away any potential landlord.
This latest story from Leeds has added to the nightmare. Kosovan Sandelina Bajrami had been a model tenants so far as her monthly £700 payments were concerned, however imagine how you would feel as her landlord when you found out that her Phoenix Massage Parlour had been far less than above board.
Police searched the let premises of Phoenix Massage Parlour in Harehills after establishing that the business had been surreptitiously running as a brothel on the internet since last February. Over 10 different prostitutes had worked at the premises most mainly from eastern European countries.
Bajrami herself was a veteran of the profession and had opened the massage parlour-cum-brothel in a bid to improve her own quality of life especially since the birth of her 15 month-year-old son, who was now the 'centre of her world.' Bajrami appeared in court pleading guilty to her charges, however her defense laboured the point that her position as the brothels madam had been a misguided attempt to better herself.
