Landlords receives large fines
A £17,890 fine has been ordered to a landlord in Oxford after a visit to his rented property by an Environmental Health Officer deemed it as dangerous to occupants.
The landlord who pleaded guilty of seven breaches of health and safety regulations, with each separate fine costing £2,500.
When the Environmental Health Officer visited the property, among many faults they found rotting ceiling joists, a hole in the floor and a malfunctioning smoke alarm.
A chief executive board member for housing has commented that the council are determined to stop landlords expecting people to live in appalling conditions and will prosecute anyone flaunting regulations.
