Landlords must take out regular checks on properties
UK residential landlords are being reminded on the importance of getting tenant reference checks and checking up on their properties on a regular basis.
The advice has come after a young man who had come over from Vietnam rented properties across Bracknell which he used as cannabis factories. In one property officers found over 190 cannabis plants and 260 seedlings.
An officer from Thames Valley Police stressed that landlords must take time in researching their tenants and obtaining references. Many landlords are also forgetting to check up on their properties, which is ever more important as more and more drug factories appear in the UK.
Home owners are also reminded that they must report any suspicious activity that maybe of help to the police in cracking down on the growing of drugs. A couple of things to look out for are lots of people coming and going from the home at all hours of the day and night and covered up windows.
