Landlords must be cautious
During this boom in buy-to-let property landlords must ensure that they provide the tenants with an inventory list. If they fail to do so they may end up having to pay out for the cleaning and replacement costs for any undocumented items.
This advice comes from the National Landlords Association (NLA) stating the importance of documenting and recording all inventory as this can save money and future disputes.
The benefits of providing a signed inventory report at the beginning of the tenancy agreement will allow landlords to account for all missing or damaged items once the agreement is over. It is also vital for a tenant to check over the report before signing.
