Gas appliances must be serviced regularly
Fines have been charged to another landlord following their failure to comply with gas safety regulations on a home she rented out in Cleethorpes, South Humberside.
The landlord, Mrs. Beckett, from Addingham in Ilkley had put the tenants in her Cleethorpes property at risk of carbon monoxide poisoning after she failed to have one of the gas fires safety checked over a 2 year period. The Health and Safety Executive had attempted to contact Mrs. Beckett to attend to the checks, but she chose to ignore them.
Fines of £1,000, along with £1,500 in costs were charged to the landlord for breaching the health and safety regulation, which is taken very seriously. Serious illness or even death can be caused by carbon monoxide poisoning in the home.
